Salango es un pequeño pueblo pescador a la costa de Manabí. En sus calles polvorosas hay tráfago activo. Durante el día suena música de las casas. Los niños se diviertan a la playa y algunos hombres se quedan vago en sus hamacas y el abuelo duerme en su silla al frente de su casa todo el día.

A la playa extensa de Salango tiene vista a Isla Salango que está rodeado con grandes y pequeños barcos pesqueros. En Salango hay una fábrica de pescado desde hace 20 años que contamina la playa y el mar y también despide podridos olores a pescado.

La playa está contaminado también que talvez tiene razón en la fiesta del fin de la semana en enero y ninguna persona se siente responsable por limpiar. Este sirve de escarmiento por turistas. Tampoco hay posibilidades para pasar la noche. Solamente a la periferia hay un hotel caro.

En Salango en el restaurante Pelícan se puede reservar Pelícan Tours que ofrece excursiones y tour de bucear. Los guías son flexible cuando llegan turistas las excursiones pueden empiezan.

Opino que no hay suficiente marketing o respectivamente propaganda. Solo se puede tener noticia de Pelícan Tours o de Salango de boca a boca propaganda. Normalmente los turistas conocen solo la Isla de la Plata que es competencia. Necesita de pegar carteles y distribuir octavillas en las ciudades y pueblos que son cerca por ejemplo Montañita. En Montañita hay muchas turistas y solo ofertas de la Isla de la Plata. Pienso muchas turistas son interesado en bucear también. Salango y Pelícan Tours tienen que atraer más atención.

Salango tiene historia y por eso cosas de ofrecer como un museo arqueológico. También Salango instruye guías sobre la historia de Salango por visitas que enseña calidad y potencial.

Report: Possibilities for development of recreational diving and archaeological tourism

Salango is a small fishing village right at the coast of Manabí. Its dusty streets are lively, music is playing everywhere, children are playing happily at the beach, some men are lying lazily in their hammocks and the granddad is sitting in his plastic chair in front of his house.

From the wide beach of Salango you have a nice view to the island Salango which is surrounded by big and small fishing boats.

Since 20 years there is a fishing company situated directly at the beach of Salango which pollutes the beach and the sea, as well as spreads mouldy smells.

The sand is not very clean either. Thus the reason for that could be the 3-day- fiesta at the weekend in January. The people celebrated a lot but no one feels now responsible for cleaning up the beach. When I saw all the rubbish I did not want to spend time there so I guess other tourists would neither be attracted by that beach.

Moreover there is a lack of accommodation. Salango only offers one hotel at the end of the village which is also pretty expensive and owned by foreigners.

Pelican Tours in Salango offers trips and diving expeditions which you can book in the same named restaurant. The guides are flexible. Whenever there are tourists you can immediately start the tour.

Salango has also potential in the archaeological area. They got a museum and also educate guides in history of Salango. Salango just needs more tourists who visit.

To my mind Pelican Tours, Pelican Restaurant as well as the village Salango itself is almost unknown. Advertising is missing. Tourists just visit because of the mouth to mouth propaganda, which is one of the best advertising but which is not yet sufficient for Salango. Most of the tourists just know about tours to the Isla de la Plata. I think a good idea for Pelican Tours would be to advertise at least in the surrounding area like Puerto Lopez or Montañita which has a lot of tourists the whole year around. To maximize their eloquence they could simply verify some posters and flyers in the more touristy areas.

Salango ist ein kleiner Fischerort an der Kueste von Manabí. In seinen staubigen Strassen herrscht reges Treiben, Musik toent tagsueber aus den Haeusereingaengen, die Kinder vergnuegen sich am Strand, einige Maenner liegen faul in der Haengematte und der Opi schlaeft auf seinem Stuhl vorm Haus den ganzen Tag.
Am weiten Sandstrand von Salango kann man auf die Isla Salango blicken, die umgeben ist von grossen und kleinen Fischerbooten. In Salango gibt es seit 20 Jahren eine Fischfabrik, die Strand und Meer verunreinigt, sowie ab und zu faulige Fischgerueche ueber das Dorf verbreitet. Der Strand ist auch nicht besonders sauber, was aber auch daran liegen kann, dass am Wochenende ein 3-Tages-Festival stattfand und sich zur Zeit noch kein Verantwortlicher fuer den Muell findet. Dies koennte Touristen abschrecken. Hier gibt es auch kaum Moeglichkeiten zum uebernachten, denn am Rande der Stadt existiert nur ein hoeherpreisiges Hotel.
In Salango bietet Pelícan Tours Ausfluege und Tauchtouren an, welche man im gleichnamigen Restaurant Pelícan buchen kann. Die Guides sind flexibel, wann immer Touristen kommen, koennen die Touren losgehen. Meiner Meinung nach ist aber zu wenig Marketing vorhanden, so dass man nur durch Mund-zu-Mund Propaganda von Pelícan Tours und Salango erfaehrt und die meisten Touristen nur von Isla de la Plata wissen. Man muesste in den umliegenden Staedten wie Montañita, wo es nur so von Touristen wimmelt und in Puerto Lopez Plakat- und Flyerwerbung machen, was viel mehr Touristen auf Salango aufmerksam machen wuerde. Auch besitzt Salango ein interessantes archeologisches Museum. Es werden sogar Schulungen fuer Guides angeboten. Der Ort hat auf jeden Fall Potenzial, brauch aber einen hoeheren Bekanntheitsgrad.
